About the Role

Cisco is hiring Software Engineer Interns to join our engineering teams in Bangalore, India. As an intern, you will be part of an innovative group building next-generation software solutions across networking, cloud, security, and application domains. You will gain hands-on experience in design, development, debugging, and testing, while working on technologies that power how people work, live, learn, and connect.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for enhancements and new features
  • Build tools and applications that support infrastructure, operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, and databases
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure hardware compatibility and influence hardware design
  • Test and optimize applications for performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Contribute to solutions across cloud, mobile, desktop, and security platforms

Internship Tracks

Software Engineer – Networking Protocols

  • Learn and apply TCP/IP networking, routing, and switching fundamentals
  • Work with routers, switches, and network debugging tools
  • Gain exposure to security technologies such as Firewalls, VPNs, IPS/IDS, TLS, and IPsec
  • Develop efficient, optimized software using Python and other programming languages

Software Engineer – Application Software

  • Apply fundamentals of computer science and object-oriented programming
  • Develop scalable applications with a focus on cloud technologies
  • Gain exposure to mobile application development and open-source tools
  • Work on UI/UX design and application debugging
  • Build well-tested, comprehensive solutions

Software Engineer – Embedded and Systems Development

  • Learn kernel programming, system programming, and OS fundamentals
  • Gain exposure to device drivers, BSPs, and debugging tools
  • Work on low-level system design and development
  • Solve complex problems through creative system-level programming

Who You Are

  • 2027 batch pass-out only
  • Strong computer science fundamentals and software engineering knowledge
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (Python preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams


Education Requirement:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or related fields
