Meet the Team

The Cisco Wireless Platform team develops the core embedded software that powers Cisco’s wireless products. The team works closely with hardware, system architecture, testing, and product teams to enable new platforms, integrate core subsystems, and deliver reliable, high-performance software at scale. Their work includes platform bring-up, low-level software development, system integration, and preparing enterprise wireless platforms for product release.

Your Impact

As a Platform Engineer, you will contribute to embedded platform software development for Cisco wireless solutions. The role involves working on low-level components, supporting hardware bring-up, integrating subsystems, and troubleshooting system issues throughout the development lifecycle.

The team seeks engineers with strong embedded systems knowledge, solid programming and debugging capabilities, and the ability to collaborate across teams. Interest in AI-assisted engineering practices and tools that improve development efficiency, code quality, and productivity is also valued.

This role is based in Bengaluru, India.

In This Role, You Will

  • Assist in designing, developing, debugging, and validating embedded software for wireless platform products.
  • Work on low-level platform software including board support packages, platform services, boot-time initialization, and device-level components.
  • Support hardware bring-up and subsystem integration for both new and existing platforms.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot software or system issues in embedded Linux environments with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Improve software quality through code reviews, testing practices, automation, and continuous integration.
  • Collaborate with hardware, testing, manufacturing, and product engineering teams.
  • Apply sound software engineering practices to deliver maintainable and production-ready platform software.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Up to 1 year of experience in embedded software development through coursework, internships, or industry work.
  • Proficiency in C and C++, with familiarity in Python or shell scripting.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems concepts including memory management, interrupts, concurrency, and hardware-software interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of embedded Linux fundamentals.
  • Good debugging and analytical skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Interest in AI-assisted engineering tools used for development, debugging, automation, and productivity improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to board bring-up, device drivers, or BSP development through academic projects or internships.
  • Familiarity with hardware interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, PCIe, or Ethernet.
  • Basic knowledge of networking fundamentals or wireless technologies.
