Who You Will Work With
You will join the Data Center Business Unit at Cisco, a team focused on advancing networking technologies. The group develops innovative Ethernet switching products designed for modern network infrastructures, including AI, cloud computing, and enterprise environments.
In this role you will gain exposure to core Ethernet technologies and architectural concepts used to design Ethernet switching solutions for both public and private cloud infrastructures. The work involves contributing to the software that powers Cisco’s multi-layer Nexus switching platforms.
You will also collaborate across teams and experience the full software development lifecycle, from early innovation and marketing requirements to final product delivery.
What You Will Do
- Design and develop system software for Ethernet switch products.
- Build SDK components for next-generation network ASICs.
- Work with cross-functional teams including hardware, ASIC, marketing, and testing groups to deliver products to market.
- Collaborate with distinguished and principal engineers to improve scale, performance, and reliability.
Who You Are
Typically requires a BSEE or Computer Science degree with 0 to 2 years of relevant experience. Cisco is seeking motivated software engineers who are interested in developing advanced Ethernet switching technologies.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ along with experience in network programming and protocols.
- Knowledge of networking technologies such as L2, L3, VXLAN, MPLS, ACL, and QoS.
- Solid understanding of operating systems and distributed systems concepts.
- Hands-on exposure to switch or router software development.
- Experience building SDKs for custom or merchant ASICs is considered an advantage.
