Job Description

This role focuses on overseeing the financial aspects of trading activities, ensuring accuracy and integrity within the bank's trading book. The position supports compliance with regulatory requirements and provides insight into trading performance and financial outcomes.

Purpose of the Role

The Analyst supports the monitoring and control of trading financials, ensuring profit and loss figures and trading data are accurate. The role contributes to regulatory reporting, financial analysis, and collaboration with trading and risk teams.

Key Accountabilities

• Reconcile daily profit and loss (P&L) results for trading desks, ensuring alignment with valued positions in the trading book and investigating discrepancies.
• Assist in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks related to trading activities and report findings to senior colleagues.
• Maintain and analyse trading data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency while providing insights into trading performance.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports and support external audit processes by responding to auditor queries and ensuring trading activities are properly reflected in financial statements.
• Communicate complex financial information effectively to traders, risk professionals, senior stakeholders, and other relevant parties.
• Collaborate across teams to support coordinated and well controlled trading operations.

• Resolve issues by analysing available information and applying technical knowledge and established precedents.
• Communicate complex or sensitive information and guide team members where required.
• Act as a contact point for stakeholders outside the immediate team and build professional networks internally and externally.

Preferred Skills and Background

• Professional qualifications such as CA, CFA, or a Master's degree in Finance or Financial Engineering are advantageous.
• Articleship or industrial trainee experience in mid to large sized firms is beneficial.
• Exposure to audit work within large financial institutions or banks is preferred.
• Ability to automate existing working files using Alteryx.
• Strong understanding of Alteryx and the ability to run automation programs independently for Treasury functions.
