Job Description
Purpose of the Role
The role focuses on overseeing financial aspects of trading activities. It ensures accuracy and integrity of the bank’s trading book, maintains compliance with regulatory requirements, and provides insights into trading performance.
Accountabilities
- Reconcile daily profit and loss (P&L) figures for trading desks and ensure they align with valued positions in the trading book. Investigate and resolve discrepancies so that reported P&L reflects the true economic value of the trading portfolio.
- Support the identification, assessment, and mitigation of trading risks, and report financial risks to senior colleagues.
- Maintain and analyze trading data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency while delivering insights to traders and senior stakeholders on performance.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports to authorities. Provide support during external audits by responding to auditor queries and ensuring trading activities are correctly represented in financial statements.
- Communicate complex financial information effectively with traders, risk professionals, senior colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to maintain a coordinated approach to trading activities.
Analyst Expectations
- Contribute to the work of related teams and collaborate with other functions and business units.
- Take responsibility for the outcomes of operational processing and team activities.
- Escalate any breaches of policies or procedures when required.
- Support the implementation of new policies or procedures introduced for risk mitigation.
- Provide advice and influence decisions within the area of expertise.
- Manage risk effectively and strengthen controls related to assigned responsibilities, ensuring work aligns with relevant rules and regulations.
- Develop an understanding of how the sub‑function integrates with the wider organization, including knowledge of products, services, and processes.
- Demonstrate awareness of how different areas coordinate to achieve organisational objectives.
- Make evaluative judgments using factual analysis with strong attention to detail.
- Resolve issues by identifying suitable solutions using technical experience and established precedents.
- Guide team members and communicate complex or sensitive information when required.
- Act as a contact point for stakeholders outside the immediate function and build a wider professional network.

Basic / Essential Qualifications
- Proficiency with the MS Office toolkit including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access database.
- Qualified accountant.
- Ability to communicate and present effectively across global teams including UK and US stakeholders.
- Strong control awareness, including the ability to identify potential control breakdowns and streamline processes.
- Capability to break down complex problems and resolve them effectively.
- Strong analytical approach with close attention to detail.
Desirable Skills
- CFA or a master’s degree in finance or financial engineering.
- Articleship or industrial trainee experience in mid to large firms.
- Audit exposure in large financial institutions or banks.
