Job Description

This role supports Transaction Monitoring by reviewing financial activity, investigating unusual behaviour, and assisting with reporting suspicious activity to regulatory authorities when required.

Purpose of the Role

The TM Analyst helps strengthen monitoring controls by analysing transactions, identifying potential financial crime risks, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.

Accountabilities

  • Assist with day to day Transaction Monitoring activities, including review, investigation, and reporting using AML expertise.
  • Carry out monitoring checks on customers, transactions, and related activities to detect potential risk and meet regulatory obligations.
  • Manage alerts and issues identified through monitoring tests, investigating and resolving each case appropriately.
  • Work closely with teams across the bank to align and integrate Transaction Monitoring processes.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and recommend changes to strengthen monitoring processes.
  • Help develop and implement monitoring procedures and control mechanisms that reduce risk and support operational efficiency.
  • Track industry developments and trends to introduce best practices in Transaction Monitoring services.
  • Take part in projects or initiatives aimed at improving monitoring efficiency and operational effectiveness.

  • Manage risk appropriately and strengthen controls within assigned responsibilities.
  • Build knowledge of how the sub function connects with the wider organisation, including products, services, and processes.
  • Evaluate factual information carefully and make decisions with strong attention to detail.
  • Resolve issues using established processes and professional judgement.
  • Communicate complex or sensitive information effectively and support collaboration with internal stakeholders.

Key Skills and Responsibilities

  • Conduct transaction monitoring to detect suspicious activities and ensure compliance with AML regulations.
  • Understand KYC, CDD, EDD, sanctions checks, negative media screening, and PEP verification for customer risk assessment.
  • Support Suspicious Activity Report investigations and regulatory reporting processes.
  • Assist in daily monitoring initiatives involving transaction review, investigation, and reporting.
  • Perform checks on customers and transactions to identify potential financial crime risks.

Desirable Skills

  • Exposure to AML and Transaction Monitoring processes is preferred.
  • Ability to coordinate with customer support teams regarding transaction related queries.
  • Willingness to work across different shifts as required.
  • Experience working with both individual and business customer risk types.
  • Strong written and spoken English proficiency.
