Purpose of the Role

The role focuses on designing, building, and enhancing software using modern engineering practices. The objective is to deliver technology capabilities that support business platforms and provide value to customers and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver reliable software solutions using industry standard programming languages, frameworks, and tools while ensuring performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements, plan technical solutions, and ensure alignment with business goals.
• Participate in peer collaboration and code reviews while contributing to a culture of code quality and shared technical knowledge.
• Keep up with evolving technology trends and contribute to internal technology communities that encourage technical growth and innovation.
• Follow secure coding standards to reduce vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
• Implement effective unit testing practices to maintain code quality, reliability, and readability.

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to building and improving digital platforms. The role involves working with modern technologies, analysing business requirements, and delivering well engineered software solutions in collaboration with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.

Required Technical Experience

• Strong experience with Java (version 8/21 and above), including Core Java and multi threading.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Frameworks such as Spring MVC, Spring Boot, and Spring Security.
• Frontend development using React and JavaScript.
• Build tools including Maven or Gradle.
• Testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, PiTest, Stryker, Karate, Wiremock, or React Testing Library.
• Backend development using Java and Spring Boot.
• Working with relational databases such as SQL Server or Oracle.
• Observability and debugging tools such as Elastic and Kibana.

Additional Preferred Skills

• Version control tools such as GitLab or Bitbucket.
• Experience with cloud environments and DevOps collaboration.
• Continuous integration pipelines using GitLab.
• Container technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
• Database query design and Unix command usage.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of Agile or Scrum development methodologies.
• Familiarity with tools such as JIRA and Confluence.

Candidates may be evaluated on technical expertise along with capabilities related to risk management, change delivery, business understanding, and digital technology skills.
