Overview
Purpose of the Role
The role focuses on evaluating the integrity and effectiveness of the bank's internal control framework. The objective is to support risk mitigation while protecting the organisation from operational, financial, and reputational risks.
Accountabilities
- Understand business areas, products, processes, and platforms to effectively assess potential risks.
- Work with stakeholders across the bank to improve control effectiveness through detailed documentation of assessments, procedures, and findings.
- Identify and investigate weaknesses or issues in internal controls and support continuous improvement aligned with the bank's control framework.
- Prepare reports that communicate risk assessment outcomes, including control gaps and recommendations, to control owners and senior stakeholders.
- Perform reviews to evaluate how effectively internal controls operate in line with policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Support adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and apply appropriate methodologies when assessing controls.
Analyst Expectations
- Complete assigned activities accurately and within timelines while promoting continuous improvement.
- Develop strong technical knowledge in the relevant domain and apply core principles of the function.
- Coordinate with related teams and partner with other business areas to support operational objectives.
- Take responsibility for outcomes of operational processes and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Escalate policy or procedural breaches when identified and assist in implementing new controls or processes introduced for risk mitigation.
- Provide insights that influence decision making within the relevant area of expertise.
- Maintain awareness of how the sub-function connects with the broader organisational function and services.
- Use factual analysis and attention to detail to make evaluative decisions and resolve problems based on prior experience or established precedents.
- Communicate complex or sensitive information effectively and collaborate with stakeholders across teams.
- Build professional relationships internally and act as a point of contact for relevant stakeholders.

Basic / Essential Qualifications
- Experience using Excel for analysis and reporting.
- Ability to manipulate and analyse large datasets using tools such as SQL or Python.
- Experience creating PowerPoint presentations for senior stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
- Understanding of problem solving approaches and continuous improvement practices.
- Exposure to financial services environments and processes.
- Background in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience building and using Tableau dashboards to generate management insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop management information reporting aligned with the latest ORAC outputs.
- Perform data analysis to support accurate management information for the Group Economic Crime COO function.
- Prepare monthly MI reports for the Group Economic Crime COO senior leadership team.
- Analyse monthly reporting data and identify insights or trends.
- Create and manage reporting solutions using Excel, Tableau, and SQL.
- Handle ad hoc data requests and present analytical results and insights to relevant audiences.
