Job Description

The role focuses on designing, building, and enhancing software solutions using modern engineering practices. The work supports business, platform, and technology capabilities used by customers and internal teams.

Purpose of the Role

Design, develop, and improve software by applying established engineering methodologies. The goal is to deliver technology capabilities that support business platforms and services.

Accountabilities

• Develop and deliver high quality software using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements, design solution strategies, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Collaborate with peers through code reviews and knowledge sharing while promoting strong coding standards.
• Stay updated on emerging technology trends and contribute to internal technology communities.
• Follow secure coding practices to reduce vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
• Implement unit testing practices to improve code design, reliability, and readability.

In this position, you will work on designing, developing, and improving software using modern engineering approaches that enable business and platform capabilities across the organisation.

Technical Skills

• Understanding of Java, preferably Java 21 including performance improvements and memory management.
• Knowledge of WebSocket communication.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and relational databases.
• Advanced JavaScript and ES6+ concepts including closures, promises, and async/await.
• Experience with React concepts such as hooks, Context API, component lifecycle, and state management tools like Redux, Zustand, or Recoil.
• Familiarity with modern frontend tooling including build tools such as Webpack or Vite, package managers like npm or yarn, and testing tools such as Jest or React Testing Library.
• Understanding of SPA architecture and API driven development.

Additional Skills

• Experience with cloud and container platforms such as AWS or Red Hat OpenShift, and platforms like Databricks.

Assessment may include evaluation of technical capabilities as well as competencies related to risk and controls, change and transformation, business awareness, strategic thinking, and digital technology expertise.
