Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The role focuses on managing the organisation’s financial operations and ensuring financial reporting is accurate, reliable, and aligned with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Accountabilities

  • Prepare and present accurate, timely financial statements and accounting records in line with relevant accounting standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Assist in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks, and report risk findings to senior colleagues.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal control systems to protect assets, prevent misreporting, and ensure the integrity of financial data. Regularly review controls and address any weaknesses or gaps.
  • Create and maintain updated financial policies and procedures to ensure consistent financial practices across the organisation.
  • Support the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and software, working with IT teams to integrate finance tools with enterprise systems.
  • Prepare and submit statutory and regulatory reports to authorities and assist other departments in reviewing regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits and examinations.

Analyst Expectations

  • Contribute to the work of related teams and collaborate with multiple business functions.
  • Take responsibility for the outcomes of operational processing and team activities.
  • Escalate any breaches of policies or procedures appropriately.
  • Support the implementation of new policies or procedures introduced for risk mitigation.
  • Provide guidance and influence decisions within the area of expertise.
  • Manage risk effectively and strengthen controls within assigned responsibilities while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and codes of conduct.
  • Develop an understanding of how the sub-function integrates with the broader organisation, including products, services, and operational processes.
  • Understand how different teams coordinate to achieve organisational objectives.
  • Make evaluative decisions based on factual analysis and strong attention to detail.
  • Resolve issues by applying prior knowledge, technical experience, and established precedents.
  • Guide team members and communicate complex or sensitive information clearly.
  • Act as a point of contact for stakeholders outside the immediate team while building relationships across functions and external networks.

Basic / Essential Qualifications

  • Semi-qualified accountant such as CA Inter, CMA Inter, or a degree in B.Com or MBA Finance.
  • Strong academic background with a minimum bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution.
  • Prior exposure, if any, to month-end or quarter-end reporting environments, control-focused roles, or finance automation.
  • Understanding of key accounting principles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.

Desirable Skills

  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and understand their requirements.
  • Self-motivated approach with the ability to work proactively within a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
