Job Description
Purpose of the role
Support the organisation’s financial operations by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of financial reporting and related processes.
Accountabilities
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements and accounting records in line with applicable accounting standards, rules, and regulations.
- Assist with identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks, and report these risks to senior colleagues.
- Develop and maintain effective internal control systems to safeguard assets, prevent fraudulent misreporting, and ensure the accuracy of financial data. Regularly assess control effectiveness and address any weaknesses or gaps.
- Support the development and implementation of updated financial policies and procedures to maintain consistent financial practices across the organisation.
- Help manage the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and software applications, working with IT teams to integrate financial tools with enterprise systems.
- Prepare and submit statutory and regulatory reports to authorities, and support other departments in reviewing and preparing regulatory submissions.
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits and examinations.

- Contribute to the work of related teams and collaborate with other functions and business areas.
- Take responsibility for outcomes of operational processing and activities handled by the team.
- Escalate policy or procedure breaches when required.
- Support the implementation of new policies and procedures introduced for risk mitigation.
- Provide input and influence decisions within the assigned area of expertise.
- Take ownership of risk management and strengthen controls related to assigned work, ensuring compliance with relevant rules and codes of conduct.
- Develop an understanding of how the sub function integrates with the broader function, including knowledge of products, services, and processes.
- Recognize how different areas coordinate to achieve organisational objectives.
- Make evaluative decisions based on factual analysis while maintaining attention to detail.
- Resolve issues by identifying solutions using technical knowledge and established precedents.
- Communicate complex or sensitive information and guide team members where required.
- Act as a contact point for stakeholders outside the immediate function and build a network of internal and external contacts.

For this role, candidates may be evaluated on capabilities related to risk and controls, change and transformation, business understanding, strategic thinking, digital awareness, and other job specific technical competencies.
Basic or Essential Qualifications
- Qualified Accountant such as CA, CMA, or ACCA.
- Strong academic background with a first class honours bachelor degree from a recognized institution.
- Exposure to month end or quarter end reporting environments, control based roles, or finance automation related work is beneficial.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
Desirable Skills
- Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and understand their requirements.
- Knowledge of accounting principles under IFRS.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
