Job Description
Purpose of the role
The role focuses on managing the organisation’s financial operations while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of financial reporting.
Accountabilities
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements and accounting records in line with applicable accounting standards, rules, and regulations.
- Assist with identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks, and report these risks to senior colleagues.
- Develop and maintain a strong internal control framework to safeguard assets, prevent fraudulent reporting, and ensure financial data accuracy, including regular evaluation of control effectiveness.
- Create and implement updated financial policies and procedures to support consistent and efficient financial practices across the organisation.
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and software, working closely with IT teams to integrate financial platforms with enterprise systems.
- Prepare and submit statutory and regulatory reports, while supporting other departments in preparing and reviewing regulatory documentation.
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory authorities during audits and examinations.

- Develop technical expertise and act as an advisor within the work area when needed.
- Collaborate with other functions and business teams and contribute to operational outcomes.
- Take responsibility for the results of operational processing and activities handled by the team.
- Escalate policy or procedural breaches appropriately and help embed new policies introduced for risk mitigation.
- Influence decisions within the area of expertise and strengthen risk management and internal controls.
- Maintain an understanding of how the sub-function integrates with the wider organisation, including knowledge of products, services, and processes.
- Analyse factual information carefully, make evaluative judgments, and resolve problems using technical experience and established precedents.
- Communicate complex or sensitive information and act as a point of contact for stakeholders outside the immediate function.

Basic / Essential Qualifications
- Qualified Accountant, CA, CMA, or ACCA.
- Strong academic record with a first class honours bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution.
- Prior exposure, if any, to month end or quarter end reporting roles, control environments, or finance automation related work.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Desirable Skills
- Ability to engage with stakeholders and understand their requirements.
- Knowledge of key accounting principles under IFRS.
- Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities.
