Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The role focuses on monitoring operational security controls, implementing and managing protection mechanisms, and applying lessons learned to defend the bank against potential cyber attacks. The analyst helps detect threats and supports effective response actions to maintain secure operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage security monitoring platforms including intrusion prevention and detection systems to identify, alert, and block potential cybersecurity incidents.
  • Detect emerging cyber threats, attack techniques, and technologies, and collaborate with industry networks and forums to stay informed.
  • Operate and analyse security information and event management systems to collect, correlate, and review logs, alerts, and events.
  • Triage data loss prevention alerts to identify attempts to move sensitive information outside the bank’s network.
  • Coordinate and manage cybersecurity incidents, including remediation actions and driving issues through to resolution.

Analyst Expectations

  • Contribute to the work of related teams and collaborate with different business functions.
  • Take responsibility for operational processing outcomes and related activities.
  • Escalate breaches of policies or procedures when required.
  • Support the implementation of updated policies and procedures introduced for risk mitigation.
  • Provide guidance and input for decision making within the relevant area of expertise.
  • Take ownership of risk management and strengthen controls across assigned work.
  • Develop understanding of how the sub-function integrates with the wider function, including knowledge of organisational products, services, and processes.
  • Demonstrate awareness of how different teams coordinate to achieve business objectives.
  • Make informed judgements based on analysis of factual information and attention to detail.
  • Resolve issues by applying technical experience and established practices.
  • Communicate complex or sensitive information and support team members when needed.
  • Engage with stakeholders outside the immediate team and build a network of professional contacts.

Role Overview

As a Cyber Operations TDAR - Purple Team Analyst at Barclays, you will support the delivery of security initiatives aligned with location strategy projects. The role involves working with modern technologies to strengthen the bank’s digital environment and maintain high standards of security and governance.

Additional Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of security trends and risk areas such as cybercrime, fraud, and financial crime.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as ELK or Microsoft Sentinel is considered beneficial.
  • Ability to document findings and remediation actions through clear reports.
  • Capability to collaborate with technical teams and adapt to evolving security challenges.
