Analyst – Valuations Control
This position focuses on performing accurate and timely valuation of financial instruments while helping establish appropriate valuation methodologies. The role involves monitoring market conditions and providing valuation insights that support financial reporting, risk management, and business decision making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain valuation methodologies for a range of financial instruments, implementing suitable valuation models based on instrument characteristics and prevailing market conditions.
- Manage the valuation process for the bank’s trading portfolio, including performing regular valuations and reviewing or approving valuations prepared by colleagues.
- Analyze market data to evaluate valuation inputs, assumptions, and possible valuation risks.
- Prepare and review valuation reports, and assist in the preparation of regulatory filings and financial statements.
- Provide valuation insights to traders, risk professionals, and senior colleagues while identifying opportunities to improve valuation processes and methodologies.

- Take responsibility for operational outcomes and activities within the team.
- Escalate breaches of policies or procedures when necessary.
- Support the implementation of new policies and procedures introduced for risk mitigation.
- Influence decision making within the scope of expertise and contribute to improving internal controls.
- Take ownership of risk management and ensure activities follow relevant rules, regulations, and codes of conduct.
- Build an understanding of how the sub-function integrates with the wider organisation, including products, services, and processes.
- Make informed judgements using factual analysis and strong attention to detail.
- Resolve issues by identifying appropriate solutions based on technical knowledge and established precedents.
- Communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Basic / Essential Qualifications
- Proficiency with MS Office tools including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
- Qualified accountant.
- Ability to communicate effectively with global teams including stakeholders in the UK and US.
- Strong awareness of internal controls and the ability to identify potential control issues and process improvements.
- Analytical approach with strong attention to detail.
Preferred Skills
- CFA or a master’s degree in Finance or Financial Engineering is advantageous.
- Articleship or industrial trainee experience with mid to large sized firms.
- Audit exposure within large financial institutions or banks is preferred.
