Job Description

This role focuses on identifying, assessing, and mitigating prudential regulatory reporting risks. The position also oversees regulatory reporting activities and maintains communication with regulators to ensure the bank’s operations follow applicable laws, regulations, and internal control policies.

Purpose of the Role

Ensure compliance with prudential regulatory reporting requirements by evaluating risks, strengthening internal controls, and supporting accurate reporting to regulatory authorities.

Accountabilities

  • Identify and evaluate prudential regulatory reporting risks arising from the bank’s products, services, and operational activities.
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulatory requirements, and internal control policies.
  • Conduct periodic compliance reviews and audits to identify gaps or potential regulatory violations.
  • Assess the effectiveness of internal control processes and governance frameworks, addressing weaknesses that may lead to reporting non‑compliance.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports to authorities and assist other teams with preparation and review of regulatory submissions.
  • Analyse and present regulatory data to highlight business performance trends and support decision making.
  • Create and deliver training programs to help employees understand regulatory obligations and compliance responsibilities.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, respond to information requests, and represent the bank in meetings with regulators.
  • Support the selection, implementation, and maintenance of regulatory reporting systems, working with IT teams to integrate them with enterprise systems.

  • Take responsibility for operational processing outcomes and related team activities.
  • Escalate policy or procedure breaches appropriately and support implementation of updated policies introduced for risk mitigation.
  • Provide guidance and influence decision making within the area of expertise.
  • Take ownership of risk management and strengthening internal controls within assigned responsibilities.
  • Develop an understanding of how the sub‑function integrates with the wider organisation, including knowledge of products, services, and processes.
  • Demonstrate awareness of how different teams coordinate to achieve organisational objectives.
  • Make evaluative judgements based on factual analysis while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Resolve issues by identifying solutions using technical experience and established precedents.
  • Communicate complex information and collaborate with stakeholders within and outside the team.

Technical Skills

Key capabilities for this role include regulatory reporting processes, internal control procedures, and knowledge of Basel reporting frameworks such as Basel I, Basel II, and Basel III. Experience with COREP reporting, regulatory control matrices, large exposure reporting, and leverage ratio calculations is beneficial.

Additional useful capabilities include regulatory compliance practices, regulatory techniques, and familiarity with regulatory systems used for reporting and monitoring.
