Job Description
This role provides quantitative and analytical support for trading strategies, risk management, and decision making within the investment banking environment. The position applies mathematical modelling, data analysis, and technology to enhance trading and investment opportunities.
Purpose of the Role
Deliver quantitative expertise that assists trading desks with strategy development, pricing, and risk management. The role focuses on analysing market behaviour and improving decision making through advanced analytics and modelling techniques.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and implement quantitative models and strategies that generate insights into market behaviour and support trading decisions, pricing, and risk management across financial products.
- Collaborate with sales teams to understand client requirements and design tailored solutions.
- Perform detailed research, statistical analysis, and data modelling to identify trends in pricing and market risk.
- Maintain and support front office analytical infrastructure, including ownership of analytical libraries.
- Provide expertise on quantitative methods, emerging technologies, and industry practices that enhance innovation in the trading environment.

In this position, you will support initiatives related to compression, portfolio optimisation, and risk analytics for the global Macro business. The role blends quantitative analysis, technology development, and operational execution to deliver solutions for the trading desk.
You will contribute to established compression and portfolio restructuring processes while also participating in strategic technology initiatives involving risk, PnL and capital. The position provides direct exposure to trading, quantitative research, strategy, and technology teams.
The role requires strong analytical thinking and coding ability, with an interest in rates markets and financial technology. It offers the chance to develop expertise in interest rate products, derivatives, and trading desk operations in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute compression cycles with external vendors such as TriOptima and Quantile alongside internal stakeholders.
- Perform portfolio risk analysis to identify compression and optimisation opportunities.
- Support pricing analytics used in competitive portfolio auctions.
- Create trading dashboards with enhanced PnL attribution, risk bucketing, and aggregation capabilities.
- Develop understanding of rates products including swaps, FRAs, swaptions, XCCY and FX, along with their trade life cycles and compression processes.
- Collaborate with the London and Asia Strats teams on established processes and improvements.
- Work closely with colleagues across Trading, Sales, Structuring, Technology and Middle Office on various projects.
- Ensure adherence to control procedures related to trade booking, verification, and reconciliation.
Preferred Skills and Background
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Finance or another quantitative discipline.
- Strong academic record demonstrating analytical and problem solving ability.
- Exposure to investment banking, financial technology, or quantitative environments is beneficial.
- Basic understanding of interest rate products such as swaps and bonds, or willingness to quickly develop knowledge.
- Proficiency in Python with data analysis libraries.
- Experience building dashboards or user interfaces using Dash (Python) or React.
- Knowledge of compression or portfolio optimisation approaches is advantageous.
- Professional certifications such as CFA or FRM, or progress toward them, are considered beneficial.
