Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The role focuses on developing and executing the bank’s financial planning and stress testing methodologies. The objective is to evaluate the organisation’s resilience across different economic scenarios and support financial decision making.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement stress testing methodologies, analyse results, identify potential vulnerabilities, and assess capital adequacy to support risk mitigation strategies.
  • Support the management of financial risks by contributing to risk management strategies and communicating financial risk insights to stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the bank’s capital position, review regulatory capital requirements, and assist with capital management strategies to optimise capital utilisation.
  • Coordinate process cycles related to Planning and Stress Testing FTC and help manage the delivery of planning processes and stress testing initiatives.
  • Document regulatory requirements, track process and data ownership, and report progress through governance forums and workflow tools.
  • Manage data inputs, data flows, and quality across contributors from initial input through to report submission.
  • Maintain BAU systems to enable efficient development of capital or funding plans while contributing to process improvement initiatives.
  • Support the controls environment by ensuring adherence to standards and governance requirements while partnering with relevant teams to meet control objectives.
  • Provide governance support including regulatory engagement, board interactions, attestation activities, and external audit coordination.

  • Develop technical knowledge within the assigned domain and build a clear understanding of underlying financial and operational concepts.
  • Collaborate with related teams and business areas, contributing to shared objectives and coordinated delivery.
  • Take responsibility for operational outputs and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Escalate policy or process breaches appropriately and support the implementation of new risk mitigation procedures.
  • Manage risk and maintain strong controls across areas of responsibility, ensuring work aligns with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Build knowledge of the organisation’s products, services, and processes while understanding how sub-functions interact.
  • Make informed judgements using factual analysis and attention to detail, resolving issues by applying prior knowledge and experience.
  • Communicate complex or sensitive information clearly while building professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills and Capabilities

  • Ability to execute defined processes and collaborate with related teams to deliver operational outcomes.
  • Review and cross-check work within the team to ensure quality and compliance with internal requirements.
  • Provide specialist guidance within the assigned work area and support operational decision making.
  • Strengthen risk management and control practices across deliverables.
  • Maintain understanding of processes and concepts that underpin the area of responsibility.
  • Evaluate prior experiences or case examples to determine appropriate solutions when procedures are not explicit.
  • Develop stakeholder relationships to understand and address business needs.

Additional Preferred Capabilities

  • Strong business and banking knowledge.
  • Understanding of finance concepts and financial statements.
  • Exposure to change or transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with digital or analytics tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, or Tableau.
  • Experience applying risk and control practices within operational processes.
