Overview
What you'll do:
Primary responsibility is NPI & NTI projects of Bussmann UL products targeting national and international markets. The role requires strong communication skills, drive, engineering acumen with manufacturing processes, and CAD design packages, along with enthusiasm for product design.
Ensure product compliance with global design standards like UL, IEC, NEMA, or other applicable standards. Have a good understanding of best design practices and design requirements.
Support system and component sizing, designing, simulation, and testing activities to meet the performance requirements of Fuses and Fusible Switches. Modify existing products to support customer, manufacturing, regulatory, and market requirements through the Change Management process.
- Work on multiple NPI and NTI programs/projects to achieve business goals and Profit Plan objectives.
- Own end-to-end projects and deliverables, including product conceptualization, detailing, design validation, and testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams to make technology and engineering decisions for project execution.
- Design, validate, and release systems, sub-systems, and components independently and through a team of engineers. Create CAD drawings, 3D models, assemblies, etc., and ensure release in PLM/ERP systems per project plan.
- Contribute to creating test plans in accordance with IEC/UL standards. Define test object requirements, plan assembly, finalize test parameters and instrumentation, and conduct tests following standard practices.
- Contribute with leads to create Intellectual Property documents (IPs) around new product design concepts and ideas.
Qualifications:
- BE / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- 0-3 years of product design experience
Skills:
- Good technical knowledge and experience in design and development of mechanical products, including sheet metal, cast/machined, and plastic products, with relevant design practices and standards.
- Hands-on experience in part detailing, designing, drawing creation, 3D modeling of parts/assemblies, 2D dimensioning and tolerancing, prototyping, and validation.
- Analytical skills covering design/selection, stresses, fatigue life, component fits, efficient assembly methods, and design calculations.
- Familiarity with GD&T, DFMEA, and DFMA.
- Good knowledge of product design tools such as CAD, SolidWorks, and SAP.
- Understanding of fusible products is an added advantage.
- Team player with good communication skills, ability to work in global and virtual environments, accountability, and innovation.
