Analyst, Reconciliations/Investigations at BlackRock (Mumbai) | Full Time

About this role

Outsourced Provider Services (OPS) delivers accounting, reporting, and reconciliation support for a broad range of middle office clients. The OPS Asset Reconciliations team is responsible for safeguarding the accuracy and integrity of investment data across critical processes including investment management, analytics, compliance, and reporting. The Analyst will perform daily position and trade reconciliations, investigate and resolve breaks, execute key controls, and partner with internal and external stakeholders to maintain a controlled, timely, and scalable operating environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform daily position, trade, and related reconciliation activities, including monitoring control reports, dashboards, and inboxes to ensure all assigned portfolios are reconciled accurately and on time.
• Provide high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders by addressing inquiries promptly, resolving issues effectively, and escalating material risks or aging breaks on a timely basis.
• Prepare and review reconciliations across BlackRock, asset manager, and custodian records; investigate exceptions, identify root cause and responsible party, and drive issues through to accurate resolution within required deadlines.
• Maintain account, portfolio, and reference data to reflect client, market, and operational changes accurately, supporting a strong control environment and high-quality downstream reporting.
• Partner with custodians, external service providers, clients, and internal teams to investigate discrepancies, close process gaps, and support sustainable issue resolution.
• Support process improvement, documentation, and automation initiatives that enhance control effectiveness, improve scalability, and reduce operational risk.

Skills Required

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate breaks, assess root cause, and identify the appropriate path to resolution.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate issues, risks, and proposed solutions to internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ownership mindset, including strong follow-through, sound judgment, and timely escalation of material issues when needed.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and adapt quickly to changing business priorities and client needs.
• Knowledge of financial instruments, including equities, fixed income securities, and derivatives, is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and an aptitude for learning new systems and applications.
• Understanding of upstream and downstream processes that impact reconciliation outcomes, with the ability to assess the effect of process or data changes.
• Interest in process improvement, standardization, and automation that improves control effectiveness, scalability, and service delivery.
