Apprentice - Structures Design

Airbus India is offering a 12-month apprenticeship within the Structures department in Bangalore, focused on Design Tolerancing. The program is expected to begin in July 2026, with some flexibility on the start date. Participants will gain exposure to aircraft structures design while working within an international engineering environment.

The apprenticeship provides an opportunity to contribute to engineering tasks related to tolerancing and aircraft structure design while developing practical skills with industry tools and processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design tolerance studies in 1D, 2D, or 3D, and prepare tolerance reports and drawing sets.
• Carry out tolerance calculations using different statistical methods.
• Implement tolerance cascades in drawing sets using geometrical annotations following ISO 1101 or ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Define and apply contractual interchangeability requirements within technical drawings.
• Ensure adherence to tolerancing and DVA rules across the aircraft development process.
• Understand design principles from assembly and manufacturing perspectives, including interface and capability considerations.
• Suggest design improvements or manufacturing optimizations to reduce tolerance accumulation in individual components.

• Understanding of aircraft component design and GD&T principles.
• Exposure to manufacturing processes used in aircraft development.
• Knowledge of aircraft functions, operational processes, and engineering workflows.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical modeling and design tools such as CATIA.

Throughout the program, a tutor will guide the apprentice in defining professional goals and developing technical capabilities within the structures design domain.
