NIT Silchar Satyendra Nath Bose Summer Internship Guide

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar offers the Satyendra Nath Bose Summer Internship Program, which gives pre-final year students research experience. What is the Satyendra Nath Bose Internship?

A. Engineering students

• Who: B.Tech pre-final year students (currently in 6th semester)
• Departments:
  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Computer Science and Engineering
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering
• Passout Year: 2026

B. Management students

• Who: Students of the Department of Management Studies
• Eligible Degrees:
  • BBA (UG) – 2nd Year (after 4th semester)
  • BBA (Honours) – 3rd Year (after 6th semester)
  • MBA – 1st Year (after 2nd semester)
• Passout Year: 2026

C. Science stream students

• Eligible Courses & Year:
  • 1st Year of M.Sc. (after 2nd semester)
  • 4th Year of Integrated M.Sc./BS-MS (after 8th semester)
  • 3rd Year of 4-Year B.S. Program (after 6th semester)
  • 2nd Year of 3-Year B.Sc. Program (after 4th semester)
• Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
• Passout Year: 2026

Stipend and accommodation

• Stipend: No stipend or financial assistance is provided.
• Accommodation: Not provided for external (non-NIT Silchar) candidates.
• Mode: The internship is primarily online, but an offline option is also available (subject to faculty approval).

Internship structure and deliverables

• Research must be carried out under the supervision of a faculty member from NIT Silchar.
• At the end of the internship, students must:
  • Submit a Project Report (PDF)
  • Deliver a Presentation (PPT)
• Completion certificates will be awarded only if:
  • Internship is completed successfully
  • Reports are submitted
  • Attendance is marked satisfactory by the mentor

Step 2: Find a mentor

• Reach out via email to a faculty member of your target department at NIT Silchar.
• Request their consent to act as your internship supervisor.
• A positive email response (Letter of Consent) is mandatory.

Step 3: Fill the Annexure-I form

• Download and complete the official Application Form (Annexure-I)

• Get it signed and stamped by the Head of Department (HOD) from your home institute.

Step 4: Submit the online application

• Fill out the official online form available at: Apply Now
• Attach required documents:
  • Signed Annexure-I
  • Faculty email consent
  • Project proposal (summary and importance)

How to fill out the application form – important fields

Here’s what the online form will ask for:

• Your full name, email, contact number
• Registration/Scholar ID
• Full name and address of your current institution
• Degree and semester details
• Mode of internship (Online/Offline – for external only)
• Chosen department at NIT Silchar
• Research area and summary of your proposal (500 words)
• Signatures from both you and your HOD

Guidelines & important notes

• Only one application per student is allowed.
• Choose one supervisor only – multiple entries may lead to rejection.
• Ensure continuous interaction with your faculty mentor. Negative attendance can lead to disqualification.
• Internship certificate will only be issued if both the report and presentation are submitted post-internship.
• No monetary benefits or hostel facilities are provided for this internship.
