Looking for a research internship that doesn't force you to stay on campus the entire summer? The IIIT Kottayam iINT Internship might fit nicely into your plans.
The institute offered its Institute Internship Programme (iINT), a hybrid research program designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students. You can work remotely for most of the project and spend a short period on campus if needed. That flexibility is rare for institute internships.
Applications for the last cycle closed on 10 April 2026. The next cycle is expected around the same time next year. In the meantime, review the eligibility requirements and start preparing your documents. This will help you be ready when the application window reopens.

The IIIT Kottayam iINT Internship focuses on research collaboration with faculty members. Students work on projects across technology, computing, and interdisciplinary domains.
The program runs for four to eight weeks. Most of the research work can be completed remotely, which is great if travel is difficult. But there's also an optional on‑campus component lasting two weeks for students who want direct interaction with mentors.
Offline participation was available between May and mid‑July in the last cycle. Extensions for the campus component are not granted, so plan your travel dates carefully.
Another small but important detail: this program doesn't follow a heavy screening shortlist after registration. Once your documents are approved and the fee is paid, your internship registration is complete.
The program is open to a wide range of students. You don't have to come strictly from computer science.
The key factor is your research interest. You must align your interest with the research area of a faculty mentor at IIIT Kottayam.
If you're looking at multiple institute internships this season, you might also want to read about the IIT Roorkee SPARK Internship 2026 or the IISc CBRAIN Internship 2026. Both are popular among students interested in research.
One of the most interesting parts of the IIIT Kottayam iINT Internship is its flexible structure.
Students who visit campus may get hostel accommodation, depending on availability. If you stay in the hostel, the institute requires you to use the mess facility as well.
Accommodation payments are handled separately once you reach the campus.
The internship requires a programme fee of ₹5,000.
This fee must be paid online through the SBI Collect system before submitting the final application. Once paid, the fee is non‑refundable.
During the payment process you will receive a transaction number (DU Number). Save the receipt carefully because you must upload it while completing the application form.
Before you start the application process, keep these documents ready. Missing files are the most common reason students get stuck midway through the form.
The mentor consent step is important. You must first identify a faculty member whose research aligns with your interest and email them requesting approval.
You can contact multiple faculty members initially, but once one mentor agrees, you should inform the others.
Students who complete registration will later receive an onboarding email before the internship begins.
Along with this email, you will receive a Joining Report. This document must be signed by your mentor and submitted to the institute via email.
Your internship officially starts once the mentor confirms your joining date.
At the end of the program, you must submit an internship report. Only students who complete and submit the report successfully will receive the official IIIT Kottayam e‑certificate.
