Overview

The Young Apprentice is an entry-level role focused on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) monitoring, governance, oversight and regulatory reporting, working closely with the Compliance and Control team. The position supports the development and management of a dedicated internal KYC (Know Your Client) program at Citi.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create KYC Records in the KYC system using internal and external sources, meeting agreed deadlines.
  • Work with relationship management teams and compliance to keep system information updated until final KYC Record approval.
  • Review company news from internal and external sources (Firm website, Regulatory websites, Company website, Dun & Bradstreet, Google, etc.).
  • Validate KYC Record and CIP document details (Company/Entity Formation documents, Ownership, Management, etc.) for completeness and accuracy.
  • Complete KYC Records incorporating local regulatory requirements and Global BSU Standards and policies.
  • Own KYC Record and documentation completion from initiation to approval.
  • Keep the BSU tool current and demonstrate completed work.
  • Report workflow progress to the supervisor.
  • Maintain the KYC workflow tool with accurate mandatory fields, status and commentary at all times.
  • Meet daily targets for KYC Record review and completion within Service Level Agreement timeframes.
  • Update the workflow database regularly throughout the day.
  • Highlight discrepancies to Senior Case Managers, Control Team and Section Managers.
  • Escalate negative news and high-risk cases to RM/PAM/AML Compliance department.
  • Assist in departmental projects as required.

Communication / Reporting:

  • Manage upward communication including huddle updates, escalations, issues and concerns.
  • Track and report time logs (CMs and Case Researcher) daily.
  • Monitor operational metrics for management level reporting.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • 0-2 years of experience in banking, finance, or law.
  • Experience in control/risk or Compliance (AML/KYC) function is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of European Union regulatory KYC/AML requirements.
  • Flexibility to work as per business timings.
  • Previous relevant experience preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
  • ACAMS certified is an advantage.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated understanding of core AI concepts, including machine learning and generative AI, and their potential impact on the business.
  • Ability to identify and articulate opportunities for leveraging AI technologies to solve business problems and improve processes.
