The Purchasing Strategy and Digitalization (PS&D) function within Volvo Group Purchasing serves as a Centre of Excellence. The team focuses on guiding purchasing strategy, improving efficiency through digitalization and governance, and supporting transformation initiatives in collaboration with multiple business units.
Purchasing Associate (PSC)
The Purchasing Associate works within the Purchasing Support Centre and supports buyers and purchasing teams across Volvo Group truck, bus, and Penta sites globally. This role involves executing operational purchasing tasks, coordinating with suppliers and cross functional teams, and supporting data analysis and reporting activities.
You will collaborate with experienced global stakeholders and supply chain specialists, gaining exposure to purchasing processes and supplier management while contributing to daily operational activities.
Main Activities and Responsibilities
- Maintain handler logs and manage portfolio related activities, order management, and priority aftermarket requisitions.
- Support RFQ processes including launching requests, following up on supplier quotations, and responding to supplier queries in coordination with buyers and internal teams.
- Compile and analyze supplier quotations, prepare summary comparisons, and develop cost breakdowns for parts and suppliers.
- Resolve portfolio related issues with suppliers and internal teams, including supplier price discrepancy management.
- Conduct analytical reports such as price inconsistency analysis, 80/20 analysis, ABC analysis, volume trend analysis, supplier dashboards, and supplier spend evaluations.
- Assist with supplier integration activities such as establishing EDI connections, managing supplier portal access, and supporting supplier base administration.
- Provide taxonomy and segmentation support and maintain departmental dashboards and reporting.
- Perform portfolio analysis and data clean up activities.
- Coordinate agreement approval workflows and documentation.
Qualifications
- University degree in BE or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or Industrial Engineering and Management.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and cost practices.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools with strong Advanced Excel capabilities.
- Ability to collaborate with global stakeholders and suppliers in cross functional environments.
- Analytical mindset with interest in purchasing, supply chain operations, and data driven decision making.
