Overview
Volvo Group is looking for a Graduate Apprentice Trainee to support the Supply Chain & Logistics team in customs and trade compliance activities. The role focuses on improving compliance levels, reducing risk exposure, and supporting customs process optimization initiatives.
Mission and Purpose of the Role
- Assist the compliance manager in improving overall compliance controls and minimizing risk exposure.
- Support broker management, internal controls, post-entry controls, and related compliance activities.
- Help improve efficiency, reduce import and export lead times, and optimize costs through trade agreements and duty relief programs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate across functions to enhance customs processes and procedures.
- Support handling of customs-related cases including duty drawback, EPCG, TED refund, bank guarantees, and related compliance matters.
- Identify inefficiencies and support digitalization and automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
- Assist in developing and improving customs training programs for internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Customs and Trade Areas
- Customs privileges such as Free Zone, CKD, bonded facilities, and related concessions.
- HS tariff classification and customs valuation management.
- Trade optimization and duty-saving opportunities.
- FTAs, trade policies, barriers, and measures.
- Origin control and customs process improvements.
- Customs systems and automated solutions.
- Customs training and stakeholder coordination.
- License applications and communication with government authorities.
Main Responsibilities
- Support customs and trade-related process setup and management.
- Maintain customs databases and related documentation.
- Coordinate with customs authorities during audits and compliance reviews.
- Work closely with suppliers, forwarders, logistics partners, and internal departments.
- Support customs broker evaluation and audit activities.
- Coordinate with legal teams on compliance-related issues.
- Assist in developing freight flows to reduce customs lead times and costs.
- Provide customs and trade compliance training to internal stakeholders.
Educational Qualifications and Preferred Knowledge
- Degree in Supply Chain, Customs, Laws, Economics, International Business, or an equivalent discipline.
- Knowledge of customs and trade compliance is an advantage.
- Experience or exposure to logistics, supply chain, or the automotive industry is preferred.
- Interest in digitalization and automation development.
- Understanding of logistics and supply chain operations.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance activities and customs procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on process improvement and innovation.
