Role Overview
State Street is seeking a motivated apprentice to support research partners through data operations and development activities. The role provides practical exposure to different asset classes and investment data used within research models and processes.
You will gain hands-on experience with SQL, Python, database fundamentals, and CI/CD practices while working on real projects alongside experienced team members. Daily work may include analyzing data, resolving production issues, building data pipelines, and deploying code.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the team to execute daily operational and BAU tasks.
- Design and implement solutions for broadly defined technical problems.
- Follow and promote engineering best practices.
- Work within an agile development environment to deliver reliable software solutions.
- Analyze and work with investment data across asset classes such as Fixed Income, Equity, Cash, and Currency.
- Assist in troubleshooting and verifying bug fixes and production issues.
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of SQL programming, Python, and data warehousing concepts.
- Exposure to shell scripting and job scheduling tools is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Ability to work closely with developers and team members while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Capability to adapt quickly and learn within an agile environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field with mathematics or statistics.
Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of database concepts, data loading mechanisms, and scheduling processes. An academic background in IT with familiarity in object-oriented programming, RDBMS, and data structures is expected. Practical experience in at least one programming language such as Java, JavaScript, or SQL/PLSQL is preferred.
