About the Internship Program

Stripe's internship program offers hands-on experience working on impactful projects that contribute directly to our mission. Interns collaborate with cross-functional teams, engage in systems design and testing, and have the opportunity to present their work to the broader organization. Each intern is paired with a dedicated manager, ensuring guidance and mentorship throughout the program.

What You'll Do

• Work on real-world projects that address urgent customer needs and span multiple areas of Stripe's operations and technology stack.
• Write production-grade software that delivers meaningful impact.
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions to give and receive technical feedback.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to incorporate feedback effectively.
• Learn rapidly by engaging with mentors, asking insightful questions, and clearly communicating progress.

Recent Projects by Interns

• Rebuilding our statistics aggregation service.
• Developing new service discovery systems.
• Improving user-facing features, such as enhancing error message clarity in Stripe Checkout.

Minimum Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related fields.
• Basic programming experience through coursework or side projects (Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, Go preferred).
• Experience from internships, team projects, or open-source contributions demonstrating collaboration and feedback integration.
• Ability to learn and understand unfamiliar systems through research and mentorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of at least 2 years of university education or equivalent work experience.
• Specialized knowledge in one or more technical areas, with a broad understanding of related technologies.
• Experience writing high-quality pull requests with strong test coverage.
• Ability to navigate and contribute to multi-language codebases.
• Strong written communication skills for explaining work to diverse audiences.

Work Location Expectations

For the Bengaluru, India office, interns are expected to work 100% on-site. This ensures effective collaboration and learning opportunities.
