About the Role
Newton School is seeking a Software Development Engineer (SDE) + Subject Matter Expert – Application Programming to join its Computer Science Department. This position is ideal for enthusiastic engineers with up to 2 years of experience who are eager to combine technical expertise with academic responsibilities, mentoring and guiding the next generation of developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Course Development & Delivery: Deliver engaging modules on Application Programming, covering OOPs, Data Structures, Algorithms, and Software Engineering concepts.
- Hands-on Labs: Conduct coding labs using JavaScript, SQL, Node.js, Python, and other programming languages to build practical skills.
- Student Mentorship: Guide students in projects, debugging, coding best practices, and application design.
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior faculty, industry partners, and curriculum teams to ensure content aligns with industry standards.
- Student Success: Provide constructive feedback, evaluate assignments, and help students become job-ready engineers.
- Innovation: Encourage application of modern frameworks and tools in solving real-world problems.
Qualifications & Experience
- 0-2 years of professional experience in software development or application programming.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as JavaScript, Java, Python, or C/C++.
- Strong understanding of OOPs, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Familiarity with application frameworks, APIs, and deployment basics.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for students.
- Flexibility to teach foundational computer science subjects.
Preferred Skills
- Prior teaching, mentoring, or training experience.
- Knowledge of Git, testing frameworks, and application lifecycle management.
- Exposure to desktop, web, or mobile application programming.
- Passion for education and student growth.

B.Tech or M.Tech in Computer Science or related field.
