About the Role
Siemens Healthineers is looking for a Software Engineering Intern Trainee to join the engineering team building a cloud-based oncology SaaS platform deployed on AWS. The platform supports cancer patients, clinicians, and healthcare providers in a regulated healthcare environment.
This role offers hands-on exposure across the software development lifecycle, including frontend and backend development, cloud technologies, testing, DevOps, and Agile delivery practices. The selected candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to real product features.
The product is a cloud-based patient relationship and care navigation solution that helps connect cancer patients with clinics throughout the cancer care journey. It is actively used by thousands of patients and healthcare professionals across North America and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining software features and automation tests with guidance from senior engineers.
- Use approved AI-assisted development tools to support coding, debugging, testing, and documentation activities.
- Contribute to frontend, backend, and API development tasks.
- Participate in code reviews and learn software engineering best practices.
- Create and execute test cases for web, mobile, and API functionality.
- Gain exposure to AWS cloud services and SaaS application architecture.
- Support deployment and CI/CD processes using GitLab.
- Work with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, and Pendo.
- Participate in troubleshooting and operational support activities.
Required Qualifications
BE, MSc, MCA, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
0-1 year of related experience.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of programming concepts and software development principles.
- Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Kotlin.
- Interest in cloud technologies, software engineering, and healthcare technology.
- Interest in Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, and modern software engineering practices.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude, or similar tools through coursework, projects, or internships.
