About the Role
Nokia’s Optical Networks division is driving the future of connectivity by building scalable, AI-driven optical solutions. Following the acquisition of Infinera, the team is growing and looking for passionate software engineers ready to contribute to cutting-edge development.
As a Software Development Engineer, you will be part of a highly skilled R&D team responsible for developing and maintaining Layer-0 and Layer-1 applications—key components of the optical network stack.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop software applications focused on Optical control and data paths
- Work closely with architecture, requirement, and customer-facing teams to implement scalable and customer-centric solutions
- Develop features end-to-end: from architecture and design to implementation and testing
- Contribute to system-wide solutions spanning digital packet and optical communication domains
- Customize and integrate 3rd party and in-house applications to meet specific customer needs
- Actively engage in resolving live customer issues and provide timely solutions
- Maintain high-quality code through continuous integration pipelines and automated testing following TDD principles
Required Skills
- Proficient in: C, C++, Shell Scripting, Golang
- Experience or exposure to embedded software development on Linux platforms
- Understanding of OS fundamentals: threads, inter-process communication, multi-threading
- Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker
- Strong ability to analyze complex legacy code and build upon it
- Hands-on experience with automated testing in a software development environment
- Quick learner with the ability to grasp complex system architectures
- Exposure to system-level design and embedded application software that scales with network growth
