The Dispute Resolution BizOps team is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer who can help address operational challenges, strengthen CI/CD pipelines, and advance DevOps automation and best practices. The role suits individuals who enjoy problem solving, automation, and improving engineering processes.
Business Operations drives the DevOps transformation within Mastercard by providing tooling and advocating consistent standards across development, quality, release, and product teams. Team members collaborate closely with different stakeholders to prioritize needs, strengthen systems, and build reliable operational processes.
Mission
Business Operations acts as the production readiness steward for the platform. Engineers partner with developers to design, implement, and support technology services while ensuring operational standards such as availability, capacity, performance monitoring, deployment automation, and self-healing systems are integrated throughout the delivery lifecycle.
The team supports daily operations with a strong focus on triage and root cause analysis while understanding the business impact of products. By shifting earlier into the development lifecycle, BizOps teams aim to manage production and change activities proactively, improving customer experience and increasing the value of supported applications.
BizOps also focuses on risk management, compliance, and standardizing application support practices. The team acts as a centralized point of collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and operational efficiency.
The role aligns product and customer priorities with operational requirements. Teams regularly review system performance and provide feedback to development partners to improve reliability and overall user experience.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the full lifecycle of services, including design, deployment, operation, and continuous improvement.
- Analyze ITSM activities across the platform and provide feedback to development teams on operational gaps or resiliency concerns.
- Support services before launch through system design consultation, capacity planning, and readiness reviews.
- Maintain production services by monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
- Improve system scalability through automation and recommend changes that enhance reliability and delivery speed.
- Support CI/CD pipelines that promote software across environments with validation and operational controls.
- Follow sustainable incident response practices and conduct blameless postmortems.
- Investigate production issues across the technology stack to reduce recovery time.
- Collaborate with global teams working across multiple regions and time zones.
- Share technical knowledge and mentor junior team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline involving coding such as physics or mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
- Understanding of algorithms, data structures, scripting, pipeline management, and software design.
- Ability to debug and optimize code and automate repetitive operational tasks.
- Experience managing complex situations and making decisions quickly when supporting multiple stakeholders.
- Exposure to programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl, or Ruby is preferred.
- Interest in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience working with development, operations, and product teams to coordinate priorities.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools including Git or BitBucket, Jenkins, Maven, Artifactory, and Chef, and knowledge of building efficient pipelines from development to production.
