Job Description
This entry-level Azure Data Engineer position within GTS-DES is open to fresh graduates from top engineering institutes. The selected candidate joins the GDC Technology Solutions (GTS) team, supporting clients in the Data & Analytics Audit and Financial domain. The role focuses on building foundational skills in ETL, data pipeline creation, and Data Engineering Services on the Azure cloud platform.
- Assist with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) using Azure Data Factory and Databricks under senior guidance.
- Support the development and maintenance of Python/PySpark notebooks for basic business logic.
- Help integrate data from ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) into Azure-based workflows.
- Support Audit teams with Financial Data & Analytics and insights using multiple technologies.
- Handle clients with medium complexity and data size, aiming to take on more complex clients over time.
- Assist Audit engagement teams in the data extraction process by coordinating with client IT teams and other technical leads.
- Perform ETL services from SAP/Oracle/Microsoft Dynamics or other systems into the KPMG proprietary tool, understanding data from functional and technical perspectives to resolve processing issues.
- Develop a solid understanding of Data & Analytics tools and capabilities, focusing on one or two sub-modules such as Journal entry testing, Sub-ledger analysis around O2C, P2P, etc.
- Contribute to resolving basic issues under the guidance of senior team members.
Development
- Design, code, verify, test, document, amend, and refactor simple programs/scripts, applying agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result.
- Review own work.
- Assist in developing operational and engagement team related routines in the chosen technology.
- Assist in practice development initiatives.
Mandatory Technical & Functional Skills
- Working knowledge of Azure, Databricks, PySpark, SQL Server, Power BI.
- MS BI: SSIS, SSAS.
- Database architecture and RDBMS concepts.
- Visualization tools: Power BI Desktop.
- Programming skills in Python or any other programming language.
- Good understanding of Gen AI and working experience is preferred.
