Internship Overview

Join Headout’s engineering team and work closely with experienced developers to contribute to infrastructure, CI/CD automation, service observability, and performance tuning. As an intern, you’ll be part of impactful projects that improve the development ecosystem for every engineer in the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Kubernetes & Cloud Infrastructure: Assist in managing Kubernetes clusters, optimize workloads, and work with tools like Helm and ArgoCD.
• CI/CD Automation: Improve workflows using GitHub Actions to automate testing, builds, artifact publishing, and canary releases.
• Service Observability: Add metrics, logs, and health checks to services, and create Grafana dashboards showing performance insights like P95 latency and error rates.
• Performance Tuning: Work alongside senior engineers to improve API and database performance.
• Infrastructure as Code: Contribute to Terraform modules under guidance and understand best practices through code reviews.
• Documentation: Prepare quick-start guides and deliver short demo presentations on tools or systems built.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong understanding of computer networks and CS fundamentals
• Experience with Linux fundamentals and at least one programming language (Go, Python, Java, or TypeScript)
• Familiarity with Git and CI tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.)
• Hands-on with Docker containers
• Curiosity and eagerness to learn cloud infrastructure and performance tuning
• Excellent communication skills and a growth mindset
• High sense of ownership and initiative

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, or other IaC tools
• Full-stack project experience
• Participation in hackathons or contributions to open-source projects
