Role Summary

eBay is hiring a passionate and enthusiastic Java Developer to join its engineering team. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and debug clean Java code for new features and enhancements
• Assist in identifying and resolving software bugs and defects
• Support unit testing and integration testing processes
• Learn and apply new technologies, tools, and software development best practices
• Collaborate with team members including QA, product owners, and senior developers
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Participate in code reviews to enhance learning and code quality
• Provide maintenance and support for existing applications

Required Qualifications

• Strong foundational knowledge in Java and object-oriented programming (OOP)
• Understanding of data structures and basic algorithms
• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL
• Hands-on or academic experience with version control systems (Git)
• Basic understanding of RESTful APIs
• Good problem-solving and communication skills
• Eagerness to learn and grow in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to Spring Framework, especially Spring Boot
• Familiarity with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit
• Understanding of build tools like Maven or Gradle
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and/or Docker
• Awareness of Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Practical experience or strong interest in AI-powered code generation tools (e.g., OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, Windsurf)
• Understanding of transformer-based AI models for code generation is a strong plus
