Role Description
The Group Data Privacy (GDP) team operates as an independent second line of defense within the Legal function. It defines the risk management framework for data protection and privacy risks across Deutsche Bank and collaborates closely with risk, regulation, legal, and audit teams to maintain strong compliance standards.
GDP functions across global locations including Frankfurt, New York, London, Berlin, and Bangalore. The team works with regional Data Protection Officers (DPOs) and business partners to guide divisions and infrastructure units on privacy compliance and data protection requirements.
Compliance and Anti Financial Crime (C&AFC)
- The C&AFC division manages compliance and anti financial crime risk across the Deutsche Bank Group.
- The team works to protect the bank’s integrity and reputation while managing legal risk and ensuring safe transactions.
- Collaboration with risk, regulatory, legal, and audit teams supports an integrated and proactive approach to risk management.
- The function coordinates with business managers to avoid legal violations and ensure awareness of regulatory developments.
Group Data Privacy (GDP)
- GDP establishes the data protection risk management framework and oversees privacy controls across the organization.
- The function maintains a network of internal data protection officers and implements controls to safeguard personal data handled by the bank.
- GDP also reviews third party outsourcing activities as part of the Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) process to ensure adherence to data privacy standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review data breach notifications and involve relevant GDP Business Partners and DPOs to support timely assessment and documentation of privacy risks.
- Assist service officers across divisions and infrastructure teams on data protection controls, attestations, and evidence for GDP assessments, including compliance with Schrems II requirements.
- Stay informed on regulatory updates related to outsourcing and data privacy, and assist with maintaining GDP policies and Key Operating Documents.
- Prepare submissions for risk acceptance or approvals in line with GDP Key Operating Documents and track follow ups or escalations when required.
- Maintain documentation of transactions, findings, and risk records within the GDP tool.
- Collaborate closely with GDP Business Partners, local DPOs, and other control functions responsible for privacy assessments.
- Develop strong knowledge of global privacy regulations including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Work with related teams such as Law Monitoring and Training and Awareness to support governance activities.
- Provide ad hoc support for controls assurance tasks when necessary.
