Program Overview

Citi’s Technology Summer Analyst Program offers students an opportunity to work with global technology teams that power the bank’s platforms and services. Citi Technology focuses on building scalable, reliable, and high‑performance systems that support clients around the world. With more than 30,000 technologists globally, the organization uses innovation and automation to strengthen client experience and drive modern financial solutions.

Participants gain exposure to enterprise systems, development practices, and the technologies that support Citi’s strategic priorities. The program allows interns to work on real projects while collaborating with teams across the organization.

What You Will Do

Summer Analysts work within agile development teams to design and build scalable software solutions using modern technologies. Based on project requirements, you will develop code aligned with quality standards and assist with testing cycles and post‑deployment support.

• Develop and maintain software solutions in an agile development environment.
• Write code based on business requirements while following established development standards.
• Test and debug programs using appropriate development tools.
• Participate in peer code reviews and support application deployment activities.
• Collaborate with teams working on enterprise systems and technology platforms.

Technology Exposure

Depending on team placement, interns may gain exposure to different technology stacks and development environments.

• Microservices development using Java, Spring Framework, and Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
• iOS development using Swift, Xcode, and MVC architecture.
• Android development using Java and Android Studio.
• Web development using Angular, Java, JSP, TypeScript, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and AJAX.
• Architecture and design patterns including microservices, REST APIs, and Spring frameworks.
• CI/CD practices using tools such as JIRA, Zephyr, BitBucket, TeamCity, uDeploy, Artifactory, and OpenShift.
• Event streaming technologies including Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
• Container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Program Experience

• Global Exposure: Work on globally scoped initiatives alongside cross‑functional teams and understand how technology supports the financial sector.
• Continuous Learning: Participate in structured training, mentoring sessions, networking events, and development activities designed to strengthen technical and professional skills.
• Real Project Work: Contribute to initiatives such as digital banking platforms, cybersecurity improvements, and data‑driven innovation projects.

Training and Development

The program begins in early June with training focused on the fundamentals of the analyst role and Citi’s culture. Participants receive on‑the‑desk learning, attend speaker sessions, and build connections through networking events.

Many Summer Analysts return to Citi after graduation as full‑time analysts to continue building their careers within the technology organization.
