Role Overview
The Applications Development Programmer Analyst is an entry level role that supports various development initiatives in collaboration with the Technology team. The position focuses on assisting with application systems analysis, coding, and programming activities while gaining familiarity with internal systems and development standards.
Responsibilities
- Use knowledge of application development concepts and procedures to help identify and define system enhancements.
- Perform testing and debugging tasks, use scripting tools, and write basic application code.
- Evaluate possible solutions in situations where established procedures may not fully apply.
- Build working knowledge of Citi’s technology environment including client server development, network operations, database administration, systems administration, data center operations, and PC based applications.
- Provide guidance or support to new or junior analysts when required.
- Assess risk while making business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies while protecting the organization, its clients, and its assets.
Technical Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain Java based applications with guidance from senior developers.
- Write clear, efficient, and well documented Java code following established coding standards.
- Assist with designing and implementing features according to business requirements.
- Participate in the complete software development lifecycle including analysis, development, testing, and deployment.
- Debug and resolve issues in existing applications.
- Work with frameworks such as Spring and Spring Boot at a basic to intermediate level.
- Create and consume RESTful APIs.
- Perform unit testing using tools like JUnit or Mockito.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams including QA, UI, DevOps, and Business Analysts.
- Work with databases using JDBC, Hibernate, or JPA and write SQL queries.
- Use version control systems such as Git to manage code.
- Follow Agile or Scrum development practices and participate in sprint meetings and stand ups.
- Continuously learn new tools, technologies, and development practices.
- Support application performance, security, and scalability fundamentals.
