Meet the Team

The Security Engineering team within Cisco's Security & Trust Organization builds and delivers tools that help identify, mitigate, and report on security issues across applications, platforms, and services delivered to customers.

The team focuses on creating an end-to-end digital experience supported by automation, including mentorship, assessment, validation, and reporting. These tools help engineering teams across Cisco integrate security throughout their development processes.

At its core, the group consists of engineers dedicated to building security tooling that seamlessly integrates with development workflows and promotes secure software development.

Your Impact

This role focuses on developing full-stack capabilities that help secure modern products and future cloud workloads. The engineer will contribute to solving technical challenges such as designing scalable API platforms, modernizing legacy monolithic applications, and building proof-of-concept solutions for new ideas.

You will work closely with engineering teams and leadership to create and execute development plans using agile practices. The role involves building, testing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-grade services used by Cisco customers.

• Contribute to development of enterprise web applications supporting large customer bases.
• Build fast and responsive web applications while exploring modern tools and techniques for solving common web application challenges.
• Use a mix of custom-built solutions and cloud-native services to support application capabilities.
• Design and implement Web APIs and microservice-based systems, including building and consuming RESTful services.
• Analyze technical solutions and make informed decisions to move projects forward.
• Balance multiple priorities and participate in decisions that may span different teams and organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Ability to use AI technologies across the software development lifecycle, including task breakdown, AI-assisted coding and testing, automated defect resolution, and deployment of validated software.
• Server-side development experience using technologies such as Python, Java, or Node.js, along with client-side development using React, Backbone, or native JavaScript.
• Experience building secure, large-scale systems using fault-tolerant technologies such as ElasticSearch, CockroachDB, Oracle, MongoDB, or Kafka, and deploying solutions using cloud-native technologies.
• CISSP, CCSP, or similar security certifications are considered beneficial.
