Internship Program: Aircraft Mass & Weight Software Development

This internship focuses on developing software methods for aircraft mass estimation and modeling. The work involves implementing algorithms in Python to generate aircraft mass distribution and detailed mass models.

Objective

The intern will implement mass estimation approaches in Python to generate mass distribution models for aircraft systems.

• Estimate empty aircraft weight (OWE) using CATIA geometries.
• Create payload and fuel models derived from 3D geometries of aircraft fuel tanks.
• Develop Python-based methods to estimate mass from basic geometric data.

Main Activities

• Visualize fuel, payload, and OWE mass clouds with improved user interaction.
• Design optimization approaches for aircraft payload loading strategies.
• Study and understand aircraft components and structures.
• Implement Python algorithms and interpret engineering models.
• Work with pattern recognition, vector mathematics, and 3D coordinate geometry to build practical software solutions.

Technical Skills

• Basic knowledge of CATIA.
• Strong Python coding experience, particularly with NumPy and SciPy.
• Understanding of functional and object oriented programming.
• Exposure to tools such as pythonocc, trimesh, pymesh, or pymesh2.
• Understanding of STP and STL 3D geometry formats.
• Familiarity with UI or GUI development and interactive dashboards is beneficial.
• Knowledge of dynamic programming and optimization algorithms.

Candidates from any engineering specialization are welcome, provided they have strong Python coding capabilities. The internship duration is six months.
