IIT Jodhpur has established the Summer Undergraduate Research at Jodhpur (SURAJ) program to provide students with a chance to work inside advanced research laboratories. The internship follows a specific timeline for the summer cycle. Applications for the 2026 cycle closed on 28th February 2026.

- Internship Duration: Approximately 2 months (The exact dates are flexible based on mutual agreement between the intern and the faculty mentor within the summer block).
Eligibility Criteria
To maintain a high standard of research, IIT Jodhpur has set specific academic requirements for all applicants.
Who Can Apply
The program is primarily designed for regular students currently enrolled in the following institutions:
- National Institutes of Technology (NITs)
- Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)
- Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs)
- Students from other prestigious institutions with exceptional academic records.
Academic Standings
Applicants must meet these specific benchmarks at the time of application:
- B.Tech. / B.E. Students: Must be in their 3rd year (having completed the 5th semester).
- M.Sc. Students: Must be in their 1st year (having completed the 1st semester).
- Minimum Grade Point: A CGPA of 7.0/10 or higher is required.
Stipend and Financial Support
A monthly stipend of ₹6,000 is available for a maximum period of two months. However, specific conditions apply to receive this funding:
- The student must be from an NIT that has a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Jodhpur.
- The student must have completed the 5th semester (for B.Tech.) or 1st semester (for M.Sc.) with at least a 7.0 CGPA.
- The project mentor must award a satisfactory grade at the conclusion of the internship.
Students who do not meet the NIT-MoU criteria may still be accepted into the program without the standard stipend. In such cases, faculty mentors might choose to provide financial support through their individual research projects.

Step-by-Step Application Guide
The application process is handled entirely online through the IIT Jodhpur ERP portal.
1. Account Creation

2. Prepare the Statement of Purpose (SOP)
Write a clear SOP that outlines your research interests and why you want to work with specific faculty members. 3. Selection of Mentors

4. Uploading Paperwork

5. Final Submission

Requirements for Selected Candidates
If you are provisionally selected, you will receive an email notification. You must then report to the campus with the following original documents for verification:
- Original Marksheets: 5th-semester transcripts for B.Tech or 1st-semester for M.Sc.
- NOC: The original hard copy of the No Objection Certificate from your parent institute.
- Identification: Original Aadhaar card or PAN card along with photocopies.
- Financial Details: A copy of your bank passbook or a cancelled cheque to facilitate stipend payments.
- Photos: Two recent passport-size photographs.
