The Computer Science group accepts Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science, Communication and Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology, Computer Science and System Engineering, Computer Technology, Information Technology, Information and Communication Technology, and Information Science and Engineering.

The Electronics and Instrumentation group is wider. It covers Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Tele-Communication, Instrumentation Technology, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Instrumentation, Applied Electronics and Instrumentation, Electronics and Instrumentation Control, Electronics and Electrical Communication, Electronics and Computer, Instrumentation and Electronics, Electronics (Robotics) and Embedded System. The same branch lists apply at both degree and diploma level.

Commerce, management and library science graduates rarely see DRDO apprentice seats meant for them, so the BBA, B.Com and B.Lib.Sc slots here are a nice change. Diploma holders in Cinematography and Medical Laboratory Technology also get their own seats.

ITR Chandipur apprentice stipend and duration

Graduate Apprentices get Rs 12,300 per month and Technician (Diploma) Apprentices get Rs 10,900 per month. Training lasts 12 months, counted from the date you sign the Contract of Apprenticeship.

Budget for living costs before you apply. ITR won't provide government quarters, hostel accommodation or transport, during the written test or interview or through the training year. It also won't pay TA/DA to anyone called at any stage of selection. Candidates who live near Balasore have a clear practical advantage here.

DRDO ITR Chandipur apprentice 2026 eligibility

You must be an Indian national and meet every condition below:

• You passed B.E/B.Tech, Diploma, BBA, B.Com or B.Lib.Sc in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026. If you passed before 2022, you can't apply.
• You are registered on the NATS portal (nats.education.gov.in). Non-registered candidates are likely to be rejected.
• You don't hold a higher qualification than the one required.
• You completed the qualifying exam as a regular candidate.
• You haven't had training or job experience of one year or more after earning the qualification.
• You are at least 18 years old. Maximum age and relaxations follow the Apprentices Act 1961, Apprenticeship Rules 1992 and NATS 2.0 / NAPS guidelines.

PwBD candidates can apply only for trades designated under the Apprenticeship Rules 1992. Reservation follows the same Act and Rules.

What goes into the ITR Chandipur application form

The form is Annexure-A, printed at the end of the advertisement PDF. A .docx version is also on drdo.gov.in. It must be typed in capital letters. ITR won't accept a handwritten form, though you sign it by hand.

The form asks for the advertisement number, your NATS enrolment number, apprentice type (Graduate or Technician Diploma), branch, your name and parents' names, date of birth, nationality, Aadhaar number, category (UR/SC/ST/OBC/EWS), gender and whether you are physically handicapped. You also fill in correspondence and permanent addresses, email ID, your mobile number and a parent's mobile number. Paste a recent passport-size photograph in the box provided.

The education table covers Class 10, Class 12, Diploma and your degree. For each, you enter board or university, year of passing, subject or branch, full marks, marks secured, percentage and division or grade. Marks must be in percentage. If your university uses CGPA, convert it using your university's own conversion norms, because ITR may check this during document verification.

The declaration states that the post is purely temporary and that a false declaration will get your application rejected. Tick the enclosures list, add place and date, and sign.

How to apply for DRDO ITR Chandipur apprenticeship 2026

1. Register on the NATS portal at nats.education.gov.in if you haven't already, and note your enrolment number for the form.
2. Read the full notice on the official DRDO notice page, then Download Application Form (Annexure-A is inside the advertisement PDF).
3. Type the form in capital letters, paste your photograph and sign the declaration.
4. Attach self-attested photocopies of your 10th, 12th, diploma and degree certificates and mark sheets, your caste certificate (if applicable) and an identity proof.
5. Put everything in a sealed envelope and write on it: "Application for Apprenticeship Training: Category ____ & Subject/Discipline ____".
6. Send it by Speed Post or Registered Post only to The Director, Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Balasore, Odisha-756025, so it reaches by 2 November 2026.
7. Keep a copy of your application, then watch the DRDO website and your email for written test or interview call letters.

ITR Chandipur apprentice selection process

ITR shortlists candidates using its own method and isn't obliged to call everyone who meets the minimum criteria. Shortlisted candidates face a written test, a personal interview or both.

All communication, including call letters and the offer letter, comes by email or the website only. ITR won't post hard copies, so downloading and printing your admit card is your job. Selected candidates go through credential verification before the contract is created, and any mismatch with the required qualification leads to rejection. You'll also need a Medical Fitness Certificate when you join.

Canvassing or personal follow-up to influence selection cancels your candidature. ITR is also not obliged to offer you a job after the apprenticeship ends. Any legal dispute falls under the Orissa High Court in Cuttack.
