Amazon ML Summer School is a free online machine learning course that Amazon India runs every year for engineering students. Amazon scientists teach eight modules over four weekends, and each module ends with a live Q&A. Entry is through a selection process, and Amazon takes the top 3,000.
Status on 30 October 2026: the 2026 edition (the sixth) is over. Registration closed on 14 June 2026 and the modules ran from 4 to 26 July. Amazon hasn't announced a 2027 edition yet. The programme has run every year since 2021, and registration opened in late May in 2024 and 2026, so watch from May 2027. It has also opened as late as July (2025) and September (2023).

Eligibility
- You must be an engineering student enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD at a recognised institute in India.
- Each edition takes two graduating batches. 2026 took students graduating in 2027 or 2028, and 2025 took 2026 or 2027. If the pattern holds, 2027 would take the 2028 and 2029 batches, but Amazon hasn't confirmed this.
- No branch restriction is stated, and you apply alone, not in a team.
- There is no fee at any stage.
Selection process (2026)
| Round | What happens |
|---|---|
| Round 1: Registration | Register on Unstop and upload your resume. Resumes are screened for a shortlist, so list ML projects, skills and achievements clearly. |
| Round 2: SOP | Shortlisted students submit a Statement of Purpose as a PDF, up to 500 words. |
| Round 3: Selection test | 60 minutes. Part A: 20 MCQs on ML basics, probability, statistics and linear algebra. Part B: two programming questions. |
The resume and SOP rounds are new. Up to 2025 there was a single qualifying test; in 2025 it was held on 3 August, with shortlisting by 7 August. Earlier editions used a two-part test on maths, programming and basic ML.
What you get
There is no stipend and no cash prize. Amazon doesn't promise an internship or interview either. For 2026 it listed these rewards:
- A seat in the programme, with eight modules taught by Amazon scientists
- An official acknowledgement letter from Amazon after you complete it
- Amazon swag
- Networking with Amazon scientists and industry experts for top performers
Amazon's 2026 press release says top performers "gain visibility" within its science hiring. The course is a good base for the Amazon ML Challenge, a separate national hackathon that does give pre-placement interviews to its top 50 teams.
2026 modules
