Overview

TransUnion is hiring a motivated Associate Engineer to join the Marketing Solutions team. This role suits early career engineers interested in backend development and working within a polyglot environment using Java and Python. The position involves contributing to API development, microservices, SQL, and cloud friendly backend systems with guidance from experienced engineers.

Required Qualifications

• 0 to 3 years of experience in software development or backend services.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Academic or project experience using Java or Python (knowledge of both is beneficial).
• Understanding of Java Spring Boot or Python Flask frameworks.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and microservices concepts.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with version control tools such as Git and basic CI/CD concepts.
• Strong problem solving ability with a willingness to learn and collaborate.

Good to Have

• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Internship or project experience related to backend development.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL or backend data access patterns.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and developing backend services using Java and or Python.
• Build APIs and microservices with frameworks such as Spring Boot (Java) or Flask (Python).
• Write and optimize SQL queries and work with relational databases including PostgreSQL.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting backend related issues.
• Use development workflow tools including Git and Jenkins for CI/CD processes.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to understand requirements and deliver product features.
• Follow engineering best practices and contribute positively to team culture.
• Demonstrate ownership, curiosity, and a strong learning mindset.

This role follows a hybrid work model with a combination of virtual work and in office presence at a TransUnion location for at least two days per week.
