Job Description

This role provides application support across production, pre-production, and test environments. Responsibilities include investigating issues, implementing fixes, assisting with new releases, and carrying out general maintenance and administrative tasks. The role also involves improving functionality and performing performance tuning where needed.

The position operates on a shift schedule aligned with UK time zones, including morning, day, or night shifts depending on the monthly roster. Overnight support, weekend coverage, and on-call responsibilities may be required.

The engineer works closely with development teams by offering detailed technical support for bug fixes and application releases. The role requires the ability to stay self-motivated and effectively prioritize tasks within a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support for LSEG Post Trade and London Clearing House (LCH) applications related to Shared Technical Platforms and Clearing Services, including SwapAgent and RepoAgent.
  • Support a critical component of the London financial market infrastructure.
  • Monitor and manage incidents through ServiceNow.
  • Investigate issues, analyze problems, and determine appropriate resolutions.
  • Apply fixes following the LCH change management process.
  • Communicate status updates to business and IT stakeholders.
  • Document incident resolution progress in ServiceNow and follow defined incident management procedures.
  • Implement bug fixes and minor improvements to LCH products.
  • Design and deliver longer term solutions for recurring application issues.
  • Update Bitbucket repositories with source code changes when required.
  • Maintain and update relevant documentation and internal wiki pages.
  • Coordinate release activities for new software deployments.
  • Work in alignment with ITIL standards and LCH policies.
  • Build and maintain application environments.
  • Configure monitoring and logging tools across application resources, preferably Datadog.
  • Maintain strong collaboration with business partners.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Provide on-call and out-of-hours support as part of the roster.
  • Handle overnight support tasks to ensure production processes complete successfully.
  • Respond to operational incidents during overnight hours.
  • Support weekend releases and scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and other production support activities.

Consulting and Project Support

  • Offer technical guidance during bug fixes, design discussions, and implementation activities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for assigned applications and business domains.
  • Assist with project-related tasks and defined requirements from project teams.
  • Perform quality checks on potential changes and review release packages before production deployment.
  • Contribute experience and insights related to the application and associated business processes.

Skills and Experience

  • Working knowledge of UNIX or Linux environments.
  • Exposure to shell scripting.
  • Experience with DevOps tools and processes such as CI/CD, Jenkins, and Ansible.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services including EC2, EBS, RDS, and VPC.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog or Splunk is beneficial.
  • Exposure to trading platforms such as Murex or similar systems.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Database and SQL.
  • Experience working with IBM MQ.
  • Understanding of network diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Experience using version control repositories.
  • Exposure to job scheduling tools such as Control-M or similar solutions.
  • Understanding of product development lifecycles and methodologies.

Additional Expectations

  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience within financial services or investment banking environments is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with financial terminology and products.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving capability.
  • Previous exposure to working in an IT support environment is preferred.
