Role Overview
The Software Engineer I builds secure, scalable, and reliable technology solutions with guidance and mentorship. The role contributes to CME Group's global platforms that support risk management needs for customers around the world.
Principal Accountabilities
- Develop code at the sprint level and occasionally contribute to minimal design activities within a POD model.
- Write and execute unit tests for developed code and review them with a mentor.
- Demonstrate foundational proficiency in programming languages while creating application modules and tests with guidance.
- Work with SQL and basic database modeling concepts.
- Implement designs provided by managers or immediate supervisors.
- Improve and optimize code under supervision, incorporating feedback from code reviews.
- Assist with environment build deployments and resolve identified defects or issues.
- Participate in production issue support on a rotational basis.
Skills and Software Requirements
- Hands-on experience with React, Java, and API development.
- Knowledge of backend technologies including SQL and PostgreSQL with basic data modeling.
- Experience working with cloud platforms, GCP exposure is a plus.
