About the Role

Lattice Build Technology is looking for a passionate and self-driven AI Intern to join their technical team. You will work directly under the mentorship of a lead engineer and gain hands-on experience with real-world applications of Small Language Models, OCR systems, and offline AI deployment.

This internship emphasizes learning, experimentation, and practical implementation over prior professional experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Fine-tune Small Language Models (SLMs), with a focus on Phi-3 and Mistral architectures
• Use Ollama for local model deployment and version control
• Build intelligent OCR-based search systems using SLMs
• Develop offline-first AI solutions designed to run entirely locally
• Integrate with the Model Context Protocol (MCP)
• Optimize performance of models for low-resource environments
• Collaborate with the lead engineer for continuous mentorship and guidance

Education Requirement

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
  • Computer Science
  • Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning
  • Data Science
  • Or a related technical field

Required Qualifications

• Strong conceptual understanding of Small Language Models
• Self-motivated with high curiosity and experimentation skills
• Basic practical experience in:
  • Model fine-tuning or training
  • Using Ollama, Phi-3, Mistral
  • OCR or document processing
  • Python and ML frameworks like PyTorch or Hugging Face
• Ability to work independently and learn new frameworks/tools quickly
• Prior hands-on work (even personal or academic) with AI/ML projects

• Has explored AI/ML through coursework, projects, or tutorials
• Enjoys solving problems and debugging independently
• Willing to explore new tools and read documentation deeply
• Demonstrates personal initiative and learning ability
